Reepham’s twice-monthly Sunshine Memory Café provides a social environment for people living with dementia and their carers, with music, games, exercise, tea and chat. It was established by Reepham Rotary in 2021 and is run by volunteers. It has become an important part of the lives of those who attend.
Reepham Lions presented the Sunshine Café with a Boccia set for guests to enjoy. Boccia is a game similar to boules/petanque and involves throwing colourful soft balls as close as possible to a white jack ball. It has become particularly popular in the disabled community and has been a paralympic sport since 1984.
Reepham Lions President, Barry Howes, said “We are delighted to support the memory café and hope that guests will enjoy playing boccia. It looks like a lot of fun”.
