Reepham Lions Club has donated a new bench to the Bircham Centre, to allow people to pause and chat in our beautiful Market Place.
Anyone who has visited the Bircham Centre recently will hopefully have noticed that the area to the right of the front door has been turned into another garden space, with flowers in planters and the Amelanchier tree. This area can be accessed by a small gate next to the front door. Reepham Lions President, Kevin Long, and other members gathered in the space to formally present the bench to the Chair of Trustees for the Bircham Centre, Les West, along with other members of the Bircham Centre team.
Reepham Lions had previously donated the two benches in the area to the left of the door, so the new bench has been chosen to match these. A plaque will be added to the bench inviting people to sit there to chat with others; community benches play an important role in reducing loneliness and isolation.
